Electrical Project Engineer

Location: Between Hull and Grimsby Project: Humber Refinery Project Contract: 12-Month Contract Rate: Hourly – Dependent on Experience (DOE) Start Date: As soon as available Purpose of the Role To provide engineering and design expertise to ensure: Company engineering standards are correctly applied across all projects. Technical support is delivered within the engineer’s area of expertise to support ongoing operations and the development of new projects. Design and drafting teams are supported and guided to produce error-free documentation, aligned with company standards and within agreed timelines. Design packages are fully coordinated and delivered on schedule. Effective communication is maintained between contractors, vendors, internal project teams, and central records. All site measurement and investigation work is conducted to ensure designs support safe and cost-effective construction. Feedback is gathered post-project to help refine and improve standards and procedures for future initiatives. Key Responsibilities Provide engineering expertise for the development of estimates, feasibility studies, design deliverables, and construction support. Review and fully understand project scopes, identifying and addressing any ambiguities or missing information. Participate in discussions and queries to ensure clarity in project requirements. Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications, and engineering calculations as required. Contribute to the generation of accurate cost estimates. Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure all designs and associated documentation, including supplier and inspection information, comply with site and company standards. Maintain a comprehensive project file that documents both verbal and written communications and instructions. Essential Skills & Experience Significant experience in engineering design and construction within the petrochemical or industrial sectors. Strong prioritisation and task management capabilities. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Self-motivated with a strong team-working ethos. Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet project goals. Technical Knowledge Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and protection techniques. Familiarity with BS7671 Wiring Regulations. Understanding of electrical distribution systems (11kV and 415V). Proficient in discipline-specific design software. Intermediate computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and database applications. Qualification Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline). The Offshore Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and interpreting geotechnical investigations to support the design and installation of offshore structures, including wind turbine foundations, oil & gas platforms, subsea pipelines, and seabed installations. At least 12 months contract 3 days office based 2 days remote £Hourly rate Outside IR35 Offshore Windfarm Project Kingston Upon Thames Profile: Good experience in offshore foundation design and interpretation Variety of offshore Wind BID and studies Willingness to learn is extremely important The role involves interpretation, data analysis, and foundation design/installation recommendations while ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. Key Responsibilities 1. Site Investigation Planning & Execution Develop geotechnical investigation scopes of work (SOW) for offshore projects. Select appropriate sampling and in-situ testing methods (CPT, boreholes, vane shear, etc.). 2. Data Analysis & Reporting Interpret soil laboratory test results (triaxial, consolidation, cyclic testing). Develop geotechnical design parameters (shear strength, stiffness, bearing capacity). Prepare Geotechnical Interpretive Reports (GIRs) and Foundation Design Reports (FDRs). 3. Foundation Design Support Provide geotechnical input for pile design, suction caissons, and shallow foundations. Perform axial and lateral pile capacity calculations (API, DNV, ISO methods). Perform pile installation analysis (pile driveability, refusal, set-up effects). Support FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and detailed design phases. 4. Compliance & Standards Ensure adherence to ISO 19901-8, API RP 2GEO, DNV-RP-C212, and client specifications. Participate in risk assessments (HAZID/HAZOP) related to geotechnical uncertainties. Review third-party reports and contractor deliverables for technical accuracy. To become familiar with and to maintain awareness of current requirements and where applicable, the latest Industry Codes and Standards including statutory rules and regulations. To ensure that all activities are carried out in a manner consistent with company policy on health, safety, quality and environmental matters in accordance with specific procedures. To ensure his / her own safety and that of others is not compromised or placed at risk. 5. Project & Client Management Coordinate with civil, structural, and marine teams for integrated solutions. Provide technical support during offshore construction and installation. Communicate findings to clients, regulators, and certification bodies. Requirements: 5-10 years experience in offshore geotechnics and foundations design. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering. Good knowledge of offshore drilling, CPT interpretation, soil-structure interaction and geotechnical data interpretation. Experience with at least one finite element analysis (PLAXIS, ABAQUS) or pile design software (GRLWEAP, SPLICE, APILE, LPILE, SETTLE3D) would be a plus Willingness to learn and proactive mindset Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and offshore environments.
